1/27/2017 · You can find X-ref fade control if you right click into the drawing, then select “Options” From drop down menu. Options window will pop out, then you go to Display and at the bottom right corner you can see “Fade control”, just slide the controller and you will have your X-ref brightened.

And vice-versa: the zero or negative value of this variable displays the xref -layers (external references) in a normal standard way (not dimmed, faded, milky).
While locking the xref layer has it’s own uses, using it to fade an xref isn’t needed anymore in AutoCAD2010 as it has it’s own built in xref fade control . You have to be careful sometimes, an xref on a locked layer can be almost invisible if both are set to fade .
